reyna arrives

as expected, claudio reyna is now a red bull.

as soccer by ives notes, there are two very distinct beliefs about his abilities as a player.

i, for one, believe he's going to be a boon to the red bulls and i think he'll provide some stability in midfield, especially as a holding midfielder.

there's even more controversy about whether it was smart to sign a 33-year-old with a history of injuries. reyna himself addressed those concerns here, and there are some surprising comments he made - including the fact that english doctors apparently suck.

and here's a nytimes article about him returning and suggesting that the designated player rule should be used to bring big-name americans back to mls - to let them share their experience and skills with an upcoming (and skilled) younger generation.

welcome home claudio. now make us proud.
