new red bulls coach

soccer by ives is reporting that the red bulls have hired osorio from the chicago fire to be our new coach.

now, i don't know a whole lot about this (and ives obviously knows tons more), but this sounds like a good move based on:

1) his turnaround of the fire this season (though the impact of blanco arriving about the same time might be grounds for some argument)

2) the fact that he has experience in mls (which is a league with its own quirks)

3) that he was with the metrostars before in their most successful season

i am glad to hear that we have someone at the helm finally, especially as i'm sure we'll see some moves this off season. i hope the transition is smooth and he and the players find common ground quickly.

on a side note, why would chicago let go of a coach that turned their team around and got them past the dominant team (united) in the first round of the playoffs?
