thoughts before the galaxy game

after having an okay start, we are heading to the left coast this weekend to take on the red-hot galaxy. it's not enough that they're across the country, but we're coming as beckham & landy are apparently peaking. sweet.

however, i'm okay with our okay start. and not that worried about the l.a. game. why?

1. remember last year's start? that worked out well for us. i like the slow and steady approach right now. i like that teams aren't gunning for us because we're 8-0. let people pick on columbus and chicago. midwesterners. (besides, we're doing as well as the best team in the western conference.)

2. osorio is saying jozy might not play. that's cool. let the kid rest. he's only had a match every day for about 10 months in between his advertising contracts. i think it'll help angel wake up out of his early-season funk.

3. not that jp has been playing bad. he's been involved and creating chances. he just hasn't had that killer edge, thanks to that whole "i've got a damaged nerve" excuse. now that seems to be a lot better, what better team to take you frustration out on and jumpstart your season then the galaxy? i mean, they're called the galaxy. come on.

4. reyna's probably not going to play. contrary to many things i write, i actually am a bit miffed about this. however, i think that stammler can disrupt plays (if he keeps his head) and be effective in the midfield. and giving magee more time will keep the galaxy's defense occupied (and some of their midfield back). of course, it wouldn't hurt to have a BENCH.

5. i think our time is coming. each game i see signs that we're playing heads and shoulders above last year. just the whole "let's keep our shape" as we move the ball is pretty exciting. and the "let's pass the ball to people while they're moving" is a good direction to go in. we've fought through a lot of things to begin this season: injuries, rookies, the toronto crowd. i think things are going to be fine. we've still got 25 games or so.
